With college being on hold until September I kept busy attending events which turned out to be stepping stones for my future path.
I decided to go for the IATA Hackaton in mid May. After a couple of days of putting together an idea for the leisure traveler I could not find the courage to go on stage in front of a 100+ crowd and pitch it. But luckily someone with a lot more confidence did. So I joined the team and worked with them. Happy I did, as we seemed to get along really well. After 48 hours of brain dumping and hard work we came up with a travel chat bot. Why? Because no one wants to download yet another app. Which meant that at the end of the event we won an Incubation Prize with the global aviation authority IATA. Exciting stuff!
Four weeks later Techstars Startup Weekend came along. And another idea hatched. This time the team got bigger. And the efforts to make the idea work were not going to vain. Mentors challenged us and we pivoted several times. We recreated the business model again and again. And by the end of the day our VIP mentor Adeo Ressi said that we’re in top 10 ideas he ever heard. With increased confidence we were getting ready for the final pitch. Competition was fierce this time. We didn’t make it in the top 3, but got complimented for our presentation and for our pitch. And we did learn a lot! Well done team!
Massive thank you to all the people involved in these events. Having so many great minds together to create powerful things in a limited period of time works out wonders.
I am excited for what is coming next! And I am truly enjoying the ride!
PS I am delighted that I have met Christian, Wei, Damien, Gytis and Toby. The experience would have not been the same without you guys!
